Costly gig gives crowd a full dose of favorites (Peoria Journal Star)

The Eagles' show predictable, pleasant

PEORIA - Joe Walsh put on a show Thursday, and he brought along The Eagles.

Goodness knows why he bothered with the back-up. By far, his songs brought the hugest ovations from the near-capacity crowd at the Peoria Civic Center's Carver Arena. Maybe he should play solo and charge one-fourth the price.

Sure, the rest of the band sounded fantastic. So do CDs. Thankfully, the loopy Walsh injected a little life and levity into the oft-staid performance.

The Peoria writer that wrote the review for the concert there must have never seen or even read anything about the Eagles. The band is not there to dance and move around alot, thats not why we see them. We love to hear them play their songs just as we hear them on the cd's. I think Phil needs to do a little better research on Eagles concerts next time before sounding off like a 15 year old brittney spears fan.

This guy is a total idiot. Why the hell would anyone in their right mind want to mess around with the guitar solo at the end of Hotel California!?! Last time I checked, it was voted the greatest guitar solo of all time - having paid the money he never sems to shut up about I would want to hear the solo i know love and respect. When I saw them in Manchester, England in 2001, it was the moment of the entire evening when the audience sang along with the guitar solo. I would have been dissappointed if half way through they went off and did something else. As for the rest of it, if I want to see dancers and performers I go to the circus or to a boy band concert. And as for his snide remark about having a break to count their money, has he ever tried singing and playing guitar or drums for three hours? I can tell him anyone in their right mind takes a break. I pay my money (sorry!) to see the greatest band in the world perform the greatest set list in the world - thats just how I and most other Eagles fans like it.

I don't know what concert Phil was at, but I went to the concert in Peoria and it was fabulous!! I agree that Walsh was entertaining, but that is about all I agree with. Frey can more than fill "Take It To The Limit" and as for "super-serious" Henley, his voice on "Hole in the World" was so haunting I had goosebumps. So did my friend that was with me for that matter. In his opinion the band played "the part of statues" but like Glen Frey (I believe) said "Singing and playing. Now there's a concept." I gladly paid $125 for my ticket and would pay it again in a minute.

I would just like to tell Phil he has never been more wrong! I would gladly pay $250.00 for my wife and I To see the Eagles again tommorow! First he needs to remember that the Eagles are the greatest group to ever play in Peoria! And I'm just wondering who paid for his ticket!!! Phil next time stay home and let the true fans enjoy the most gratafying show that I have had the pleasure of attending!! By the way JOE,JOE you rock buddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
